Aim International (founded as Africa Inland Mission) is an evangelical interdenominational Christian mission
agency serving across Africa, and ministering to Africans living around the world. We work in partnership with
the African church to reach Africa’s unreached peoples with the good news of Jesus Christ, and to develop leaders
for the fast-growing church. This involves evangelism, church planting, discipleship, youth work and theological
training. Other activities include medical care, agriculture, literacy, education and translation. Founded in
1895 we now have more than 850 missionaries serving in 18 African countries.
Aim members serve in Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Uganda, DRCongo, Central African Republic, Sudan, Chad, Indian Ocean
Islands, Madagascar, Angola, Namibia, Mozambique, Lesotho and in so called Creative Access Nations. These are areas
of Africa, which are closed to traditional forms of missionary activity.
Placements
Aim offers both short-term (up to 1 year) and long-term placements. We organize medical elective placements, Summer
and Mediquest teams (up to six weeks) as well as gap year placements (3 – 12 months). Mediquest teams are specifically
designed for people wanting to experience medical mission in action. They are ideal for those training in any field
of medicine who want to discover more about the significant issues, challenges and rewards of healthcare in Africa.
For more information please check our Synergy website www.synergyafrica.com.
Long-term opportunities (over 1 year) are wide and varied. In Healthcare there are needs for doctors, surgeons,
nurses, midwives, nursing tutors, counselors, community health coordinators, occupational therapists, physiotherapists,
radiographers, lab technicians. Long-term missionaries will need to have professional experience as well as some Bible
college training.
Financial and prayer support
Aim International is a 'faith' mission. We believe that when the Lord calls someone to a particular ministry, he will
also provide all that is necessary to fulfill that ministry. In practical terms, all our missionaries are supported
financially by their sending church and often by other supporting churches and individuals. As part of this support
we also require that each member has a group of people who are committed to pray for them and their ministry on a
regular basis and to provide other practical help and encouragement as they are able.
