The Trust provides service and support for people in the North Essex Area with severe and moderate emotional and mental health difficulties. North Essex Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust was established in April 2001 as one of the first wave of integrated mental health & social care providers of working arrangements with Essex County Council.
North Essex is situated to the north east of London, bordered by the counties of Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Suffolk and south Essex. The Trust covers a population of approximately 1 million people in an area extending from the M25 to the coast and is easily accessible from London by road and rail, and beyond through Stansted airport. The main urban centres are Chelmsford, the county town; Colchester, the oldest recorded town in Britain; and the "new town" of Harlow
