Colchester General Hospital
Colchester Hospital University NHS Foundation Trust has been an NHS Foundation Trust since May 2008. It runs two hospitals in the town and also provides services from other locations, principally from three neighbouring community hospitals.
The core area served by the Trust is North East Essex but patients come from further afield for specialist services such as radiotherapy, vascular surgery and urological cancer surgery. A purpose-built £25m radiotherapy centre opened in spring 2014 as part of a plan to centralise all acute services on the Colchester General Hospital site.
The Trust, which employs 4,500 staff, is committed to its staff and their development and to equal opportunities and diversity. We have achieved the NHS Improving Working Lives accreditation “Practice” status and are actively working towards “Practice Plus”. We have achieved the Investors in People Award and met the criteria needed to use the “two ticks” disability symbol.
Colchester offers an attractive range of 21st century amenities in a heritage setting. Beautiful coast and Constable countryside are within easy reach. It has outstanding schools, is served by the A12 and London is only 55 minutes away by train. Here you can combine a great career with a highly desirable place to live.
