Shropshire Council is undergoing a large-scale transformation programme,‘Creating a better future’, putting improving the quality of life of all local people at the heart of everything we do. We’re committed to changing for the better, working together in new ways across the whole council, with our local partners and our communities to deliver improved health and wellbeing outcomes.

We’ve created these two exciting new posts within the Public Health Directorate to support our transformation and deliver the Council’s vision, values and strategic objectives by taking a lead role on a range of corporate and system policies and tasks, on behalf of the Council. We’re looking for strategic thinking, corporate players who’ll work closely with relevant internal colleagues, external partners and our communities, to improve health and well-being and reduce health inequalities.

In the Integration and Healthy People role, you’ll be responsible for working with the Director of Public Health and colleagues across the Council, system and our communities, to deliver the Council’s and the Public Health response to integration across health and social care. You’ll focus on prevention, early intervention and intelligence-led actions to tackle underlying causes of health problems and issues before they reach crisis point.

The Health, Environmental Protection and Healthy Place role will consolidate the response to COVID across the Council, recognising the importance and central role of Environmental Health and Health Protection in delivering wider Public Health outcomes and keeping Shropshire safe, working with colleagues across the Council to deliver a health in all policies approach, focusing on the wider determinants of health and a healthy place.

We’re looking for inspiring leaders to galvanize our new model for public health and are looking for individuals with senior leadership experience and knowledge of these areas of public health practice.
