Poole Hospital is a 780 bed Acute Hospital situated close to the centre of the historic port of Poole.
We have a philosophy of care based on "The Poole Approach". This means we provide friendly, professional, patient-centred care with dignity and respect for all.
- The main hospital block which was first constructed in 1969 but has since been extensively extended and refurbished;
- The Maternity Unit which lies opposite the main hospital in St. Mary's Road;
- Forest Holme hospice, opened in 1994 to offer palliative care, which is set in its own secluded location close to the rear of the main hospital site.
The Hospital treats well over a quarter of a million people a year, providing acute medical care to the population of the Poole area and a number of other important services including paediatrics, maternity and trauma care to Poole, Bournemouth and the surrounding areas. The Trust also provides a Dorset wide neurology service and, as the designated Cancer Centre for Dorset, cancer care for patients across the county.
