The post is based at Churchill House in Bracknell to have overall responsibility for the smooth and efficient management and day to day running of the Bracknell CRHTT Spoke

The post holder will be a registered clinician (nurse, OT, social worker, psychologist etc) with responsibility for the leadership, operational management, and development of CRHTT for people with mental health illnesses. The role involves working closely with people using the service, their families and carers, community-based teams, ICBs, primary care, other health and social services, and the voluntary sector to ensure that the service provided is of a high quality, is responsive to local need and demonstrates value for money.

·       In the role of expert practitioner, to provide clinical leadership to the Spoke to enable the provision of a defined, recovery-focused service. It is expected that this post will work collaboratively with the Consultant Psychologists, Consultant Psychiatrists, Nurse and Associate Nurse Consultant and Service Managers as a senior clinical leadership team across the locality.

·       Work as an autonomous practitioner, working to the Head of Service to deliver a range of objectives relating specifically to mental health urgent care, but also in relation to best clinical standards and practice.

·       To provide advanced support, knowledge and clinical skills to staff and patients within the service.

·       Provide expert supervision for staff working within the service area, e.g. formal supervision, case conferences, professional nurse advocacy.

·       To provide expert practice, professional and clinical leadership through assessment, planning and implementation of highly specialised and appropriate programmes of care.

·       In conjunction with the Service Manager, to develop highly specialised programmes of care and provide highly specialised advice concerning care. in specialist area.

·       To work as a Advanced Practitioner with an extended role within the relevant national framework and Trust protocol, in accordance with qualification and competence to practice.

  • Registered professional in relevant health or social care field (e.g. nursing social work, occupational therapy, psychology etc)
  • Relevant Post-basic clinical qualification(s) with a professional portfolio supporting this.
  • Evidence of extended role relevant to the core function of the CRHTT in providing alternative to admission and least restrictive practices
  • Masters level qualification or equivalent experience

  • AC/RC status or willingness toward this
  • Relevant teaching qualification

Previous Experience

  • Substantial post registration experience in an advanced mental health practitioner and/or senior clinical position, to include significant leadership functions.
  • Substantial experience of working with patients who experience mental health difficulties
  • Specific, recent clinical experience in a senior capacity within Mental Health Services
  • Currently engaged in significant clinical work with people with a complex mental illness at an advanced level of practice and can demonstrate a high degree of professional autonomy in this area.
  • Evidence of applying research to advance practice.
  • Change management experience.
  • Experience of influencing the advancement of mental health care.
  • To have participated in research activity.

  • Teaching experience across NHS / University settings.
  • Publication of material in specialist mental health services within nursing and healthcare journals
  • Evidence of significant research experience.
  • Organisational development experience.
