Are you looking for a role within a committed, engaging, supportive team?

We are actively recruiting both full and part time enthusiastic Health Visitors to join our well experienced team here in Reading.

We are a forward thinking, vibrant Health Visiting team with bases at Whitley Health Clinic & Southcote Clinic. Our team is made up of Health Visitors, Staff Nurses and Nursery Nurses delivering Health and development services to children aged 0-5 and their families in the Reading area.

We are looking for strong team players who have a real passion for working with children and families. You will need to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work with other teams and agencies.

The service operates 9 – 5 Monday to Friday in which we can offer some flexibility around working hours. This is a client facing role but with some room for home working based on service need.

We are very committed to the development of our staff so whether you are an experienced health visitor or are newly qualified, we will ensure you receive personalised and effective support from both your health visiting line manager and colleagues within your team.

  • Working collaboratively with other health care professionals and agencies ensuring a seamless delivery of service for children and families within the community.
  • Assessing child and family needs, using the appropriate assessment and risk tools. Ensuring that at each contact with a child an assessment of their health and development need is conducted
  • To support breastfeeding and parent infant relationships applying the Unicef UK Baby Friendly Initiative standards
  • Ensure that the advice, support and services provided take account of client or family's race, culture, religion and language
  • Full knowledge and understanding of the Local Safeguarding Board Procedures together with Trust guidelines. Exercises vigilance regarding vulnerable families and to respond as necessary
  • Working closely with local authority colleagues

  • Be a registered Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (Health Visiting) active on the NMC register
  • Previous experience managing cases where a child has a protection plan
  • Have a high standard of clinical work
  • Have a valid UK driving license with access to vehicle
