We are recruiting registered Nursing Associates who are on the NMC register to join our HMP nursing teams. You will be working as part of a multi-disciplinary team and taking direction from our Registered Nurses who will support you in delivering planned care to patients

Main duties of the job

Perform and record clinical observations including blood pressure, temperature, respirations and  pulse. Undertake clinical tasks including wound care, application of compression therapy, administration of medication including subcutaneous, oral and rectal, catheter reinsertions, blood glucose monitoring, oral suctioning and any other clinical intervention that is competency based and listed for a nursing associate. Demonstrate the ability to recognise changing priorities seeking advice and guidance from the Registered Nurse or other registered care professionals as appropriate. Report back and share information with the registered nurses on the condition, behaviour, activity and responses of individuals. Assist in the delivery of complex care as prescribed by the registered nurse. Assist with the implementation and monitoring of clinical standards and outcomes. Develop a working knowledge of other providers’ resources and referral systems to ensure individual’s needs are met, within parameters of practice. Engage in reflective practice including management of self and reflection on own reactions, asking questions and reflecting on answers given. Share ideas with colleagues to improve care and suggest areas for innovation

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The Nurse Associate will deliver high quality, holistic, compassionate and fundermental patient and client care as part of the nursing team under the direction of a Registered Nurse (or other registered care professional dependent on the setting).

 

The Nurse Associate will focus on specific delegated clinical tasks focusing on the direct needs of the individual whilst promoting health and independence.

The Nurse Associate can deliver complex care, defined as patients with complex care needs with a combination of multiple chronic conditions, mental health issues, medication-related problems, and social vulnerability if a specific protocol has been written for that group of employees

  • • Experience of working in teams under appropriate supervision as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • • Insight into how to evaluate own strengths and development needs, seeking advice where appropriate

Skills/knowledge

Essential criteria
  • • Understanding of the scope of the role of the Nursing Associate in context of the nursing and interdisciplinary team and the
  • • Understands and acts in line with NMC professional standards for practice contained within The Code

Personal qualities

  • • Ability to organise and prioritise own delegated workload
  • • Ability to deal with non- routine and unpredictable nature of workload and individual patient contact
Desirable criteria
  • • Ability to take part in reflective practice and clinical supervision activities
