An exciting opportunity has arisen for a secondment of a Band 6 Deputy Ward Manager within HMP Birmingham to join the Mental Health Team, within 24hr healthcare on a 12 month secondment/ fixed term contract. We are looking to recruit highly motivated individuals who are passionate about providing high quality and compassionate care within a unique environment.
Our nursing team within HMP Birmigham are commited to providing high quality mental health care, within a 24hr healthcare setting, that is part of the prison residential services, working with prison operational staff and wider partners.
This will provide the successful candidate with the opportunity to gain experience at Deputy Ward Manager level and to enhance their skills on assessment, interventions and provide a trauma informed model of care.
The successful candidates will need excellent communication and organisational skills and setting there own work agenda in line with the job role and trust policies.
This role requires Prison clearance and vetting and will the successful candidate will be supported to undertake this, as part of the onboarding process.
Experience working within Secure and Offender healthcare is desirable.
Main duties of the job
Applicants must be a Registered Mental health or Learning Disability Nurse who are able to work in a challenging, dynamic and recovery focused environment.
You will need to demonstrate a range of skills including the following:
- Effective leadership and management
- Staff supervision and appraisals
- Rota management
- Effective communication, empathy, self-awareness, compassion and critical self-reflection
