Job overview

An exciting development opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Sister / Charge Nurse to work within our 24 hour service.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, assertive and inspirational nurse who has a passion for ensuring the provision of high quality, safe services, with excellent outcomes in a way that delivers efficiencies as well as meeting the service needs and requirements of key stakeholders. This includes all acute, community, primary care and local authority partners, patients and the public.

 

Main duties of the job

You will provide strong clinical, professional leadership to the Home First Team as well as having operational responsibility for the delivery of key performance outcomes including prevention of admission, improved patient flow and reduced length of stay. Patient experience, patient safety, clinical governance and regulatory compliance will be an integral part of the role.

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the management of a team of Band 2 and 3 HCSW’s and Band 5 registered nurses and will be responsible for the supervision, and teaching of junior staff.

The role will include deputising for the Band 7 Team Leader in their absence.

Hywel Dda University Health Board is the planner and provider of NHS healthcare services for people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and its bordering counties. Our 11,000 members of staff provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services for around 384,000 people across a quarter of the landmass of Wales. Qualifications and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Registered Nurse (Part 1)
  • Current NMC Registration
  • Bachelor degree (or equivalent experience)
  • Pertinent postgraduate diploma (or equivalent development/experience and a willingness to undertake appropriate post graduate diploma level study. (N.B. Specialist Practice Award in District Nursing required for District Nursing post)
  • Bronze IQT
Desirable criteria
  • Teaching qualification( or equivalent experience)
  • Recognised management qualification
  • Community Nurse Prescriber

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Appropriate experience within community/specialty and able to demonstrate sound knowledge
  • Able to demonstrate sound knowledge of NMC Code (2015)
  • Experience of working in a multiprofessional environment
  • Experience of running a ward/area/department
  • Experience of working with pre-registration nursing / midwifery students
  • Experience of formal /informal teaching and of mentoring preregistration nursing or midwifery students
  • Understanding of wider nursing and health care related agenda
  • IT skills
  • Supervisory management skills
  • Able to relate theory into practice through reflective skills
