Job overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic Theatre Practitioner (Bank) to work on the bank in our 4 main hospitals.

The post holder is part of the clinical team provided to ensure that clinical care of patients and others using the service receive an efficient and quality service.

The post Holder is expected to work closely with all disciplines to ensure the promotion of high standards for all patients requiring peri – operative care, following appropriate training encompassing a variety of specialties.

The post holder is expected to carry out all relevant forms of care and will be expected to demonstrate procedures and supervise junior / unqualified staff.

Main duties of the job

  • Work closely with leading consultants and like-minded professionals who respect and value what you bring
  • Experience a varied caseload with state-of-the-art technology, equipment and facilities
  • Deliver high-quality care and experiences for patients, which is always clinically effective and evidence based
  • Work collaboratively as part of the wider hospital team to ensure continuity in patient car

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Hywel Dda University Health Board is the planner and provider of NHS healthcare services for people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and its bordering counties. Our 11,000 members of staff provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services for around 384,000 people across a quarter of the landmass of Wales. Qualifications and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Current Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) OR Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registration
  • Registered General Nurse OR Registered Operating Departmental Practitioner
  • Commitment to undertake an appropriate course of study
  • To have a knowledge and understanding of all surgical specialities within the operating department
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
Desirable criteria
  • Diploma in theatre perioperative practice.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of experience use of equipment and materials
Desirable criteria
  • Post registration experience
  • Relevant experience in all specialities General / orthopaedic / gynae / urology / Trauma
  • Experience in the supervision / teaching of students, support staff and others
