Job overview

We are seeking a Band 7 Midwife to work in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary as the Perinatal Pelvic Health Midwife on a permanent basis. This post will enhance the prevention of pelvic health injury in pregnancy and birth.

The post holder will support the delivery of the OASI bundle, identify women at risk of pelvic floor injury and providing training and education for staff and service users around pelvic floor exercises. The post holder will run a specialist clinic and workshops for women and birthing people with mild/moderate urinary incontinence and previous or current pelvic floor injury.

Main duties of the job

We are seeking a passionate and experienced midwife to join our dynamic team at Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust as a Perinatal Pelvic Health Specialist Midwife. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in developing and delivering an exceptional midwife-led pelvic health and perineal service.

As an expert practitioner, you will provide specialist clinical care, assessment, and evidence-based advice to prevent and manage pelvic health issues during pregnancy and birth. Working closely with the Specialist Midwife Lead, physiotherapists, and wider multidisciplinary teams, you’ll contribute to innovative pathways that promote optimal physical and psychological wellbeing for women and birthing people.

You will act as a visible leader and trusted resource within maternity services, supporting colleagues through training, consultation, and service evaluation. This role is ideal for a motivated midwife with a passion for advancing holistic, person-centred care and shaping the future of perinatal pelvic health services.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • NMC registered Midwife
  • Qualification/additional study/relevant experience in pelvic health
  • degree or equivalent study
  • 5 years at band 6

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of a specialist interest in perineal and pelvic health
  • Experience of MDT working
  • Leadership experience

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge and understanding of current issues that relate to perineal and pelvic health th and their practical application.
  • Highly developed knowledge and understanding of current legislation, guidance and policies from a local and national perspective
  • Knowledge and experience of complex MDT care planning
