Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen of a fixed term post in the Medical Assessment Unit (MAU) at Macclesfield Hospital. We are inviting applications for Band 5 nurses who are newly qualified/due to qualify in the coming months or experienced nurses who are seeking to expand their knowledge and skills within the Medical Assessment Unit.

The Medical Assessment Unit is a busy, thriving department but rewarding where you will surrounded by friendly and supportive colleagues in an environment that encourages new ideas, innovation and personal development.

We expect exemplary communication skills both verbal and written. Above all else quality patient care needs to be your priority at all times.

What we can offer?

  • A structured induction programme to the Medical Assessment Unit 
  • Possibilities of long-term career progression within the Department with plans to develop pathways to the role of Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP)
  • Funded training for courses such as Advanced Life Support (ALS)

Hours per week: 37.5 (part time also considered)

Main duties of the job

The role of a Staff Nurse is to support in the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of high quality nursing care. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, the staff nurse will ensure patients receive the highest level of care, delivered using a holistic, patient-focused approach, while ensuring high standards of documentation are maintained.

  • Current first level registration in General / Adult Nursing
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of Continuous Professional Development

  • Demonstrates commitment to patient care and the Trust by adopting a flexible approach to work

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of using a multi–disciplinary approach to patient care
Desirable criteria
  • Experience working in Acute hospital (MAU, A&E, GP Out of Hours)
  • Experience of managing a group of staff to deliver patient care
  • Involvement in using evidence to implement improvements in practice / protocol or procedures
  • Evidence of designing and delivering education to junior staff

Knowledge & Skills

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrates commitment to own personal development
  • Demonstrates competence in assessing patient condition and plan and implement care
  • Effective documentation of care delivery
