Job overview

Ward 7 and CCU are currently looking to recruit to the role of Clinical Support Worker. We are a 28 bedded ward specialising in Cardiology and Endocrinology with 4 level 2 cardiology beds.

Shift pattern: Long day (07:30-20:30) or night shifts (20:00-08:00).

Shift requirements:  in order to support service delivery you will be required to participate in a 24 hour shift pattern

Our passionate and positive Clinical Support Worker provide empathy, friendship and encouragement to enable a more comfortable stay and faster recovery

36 Hours per week

We welcome applications from Graduate visa holders; it is important to note that you must have a minimum of 6 months before this expires at the start of your employment for training and operational reasons.

Main duties of the job

In this role you will be working alongside many different teams of professionals to ensure our patients receive the best possible care and the most positive outcome. As a Clinical Support Worker you are the patient advocate, ensuring they are comfortable, supported, well looked after and most importantly listened to. Recognising signs of deterioration and progression through observation and conversation and escalating any such matters promptly.

As a Clinical Support Worker you will be expected to:

  • Complete the Care Certificate within the first three months of commencement to role.
  • Record data and observations which are legible and completed to a high standard.
  • Be able to collect samples and swabs.
  • Escalate any deteriorations or progressions to the team.
  • Be able to communicate well both verbally and written.
  • Responsible for assisting with personal care – Washing, dressing, bathing and toileting.
  • Assist with Mobility, feeding and health issues.
  • Create a personalised care plan.
  • Make a difference to the patient’s experience
  • Not be afraid to ask for help
  • Be able to deal with confrontational situations
  • Work well within a team as well as autonomousl

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Good standard of general education
  • Care Certificate or working towards, this must be completed within first 3 months of employment
  • Pass in GSCE’s in Math's and English (4/C or above) or equivalent
  • NVQ Level 2 in direct care/customer services or equivalent experience
Desirable criteria
  • Successful completion of the Be AWARE to care course (or equivalent
