Main duties of the job
To provide support to registered staff with the perioperative care of all patients. The post holder will possess knowledge of surgical procedures and be able to provide support to facilitate the delivery of high quality patient care.
Acting under the direction of registered practitioners the post holder will use available information regarding resource to support the delivery of perioperative care.
The post holder will participate in all aspects of perioperative care delivering direct patient care in a manner sensitive to the individual patient’s needs and wishes, acknowledging and respecting their rights and beliefs at all times.

The Royal Cornwall trust is spread across three sites; the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro, West Cornwall Hospital in Penzance and St Michaels’ Hospital in Hayle.
Royal Cornwall Hospital - Operating Theatres (Trelawney, Tower and Newlyn) where you will be based, has fifteen operating theatres and is home for elective and emergency services.
You will be working with multi-disciplinary colleagues as a member of the core theatre team.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Good standard of secondary education as a minimum English Language and Mathematics or equivalent experience
Desirable criteria
- NVQ 2 in operating department practice or equivalent experience.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience working with the public , i.e people skills/relations
Desirable criteria
- Previous experience in healthcare in an acute environment of at least 6 months
- Theatre experience or equivalent of at least 6 months
- Clinical Skills, i.e venepuncture, OBS, Blood transfusion amongst others
Practical & Intellectual Skill
Essential criteria
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Computer Literacy
- Able to work in a Team environment
Desirable criteria
- Experience in using Galaxy system
