Job overview

Do you have an interest or experience in epilepsy? We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated registered children’s nurse with post registration experience to join the epilepsy team in Southern Derbyshire and East Staffordshire.

We provide accessible high quality, comprehensive health care for children and families in Derby and Burton. This is an exciting opportunity to work across 2 sites within the same Trust, supported by an enthusiastic and friendly Epilepsy Team.

We work within a committed multidisciplinary team which includes dieticians, neurophysiologists and an award winning youth team.

We offer Video EEG telemetry, Ketogenic diet and a teenage clinic for young adults.  We hold weekly epilepsy team meetings and monthly peer review sessions.  We hold 10 joint tertiary neurology clinics per year and we are part of the Children’s Epilepsy Work stream in Trent.

Main duties of the job

The role will involve providing expert information, education and support to children and their families ensuring rapid access to advice via a telephone helpline and in the consultant led clinic setting. The successful applicant will be an educational resource for health care professionals (hospital and community-based) in delivering current best practice for Epilepsy and will take part in the Epilepsy 12 audit.

The post holder will have the opportunity to build upon their existing knowledge and skills and further develop their own nursing practice.
