Enthusiastic and motivated staff to work in a very busy but well motivated team working an interesting and extensive area of Ophthalmology.

Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as ‘Priority’ and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.

Contribute to the smooth running of a busy OPD department taking on extended roles within the speciality and enhancing patient experience.

To deliver nursing care of a consistently high standard to patients of all ages and cultures who attend the Accident and Emergency or Outpatient Departments.  To include the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of each individual’s care requirement.  To work at all times within the guidelines of the Nursing and Midwifery Council, and Plymouth Hospital NHS Trust guidelines and policies.

  • Participate in the full multi-disciplinary care of ophthalmic patients and their relatives, promoting the use of evidence based practice to facilitate clinical excellence.  To improve patient centred care.

 

  • The postholder can expect to take responsibility of own clinical workload within the department, including appropriate treatments in the outpatient department.

 

  • Participate in departmental based continuing education activities and demonstrate maintenance of personal professional education.

 

  • The postholder may be expected to work within other areas of the unit so that further experience may be gained, or to assist if the clinical situation or staffing levels demand.

 

  • Initiate and maintain professional relationships with patients, relatives, carers and all other grades of hospital staff.
