Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity for a 6 clinician to join our growing pulmonary rehabilitation service. You will be joining a dynamic team that delivers pulmonary rehabilitation across Dorset. You will be mainly working in the Bournemouth and Poole area but will be expected to cover across Dorset at times. You will need to hold a valid UK Driving license and have access to a car.

The successful candidate will be able to develop skills in holistic assessing.

Supervisory skills will be enhanced and with the pulmonary rehabilitation service working towards accreditation service development and quality assurance skills will be developed also.

There will be opportunity to support students and cascade learning to other team members.

Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of.  Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service are able to present a valid DBS certificate instead of requiring a new check.

Main duties of the job

Assessing suitability of patients for the pulmonary rehabilitation course, offering advice and guidance to patients as required. Liaising with other disciplines to ensure safety of the patients whilst exercising. 

You must be able to work autonomously, have good interpersonal  and time management skills 

You will be working along side one of our exercise instructors whilst running the pulmonary rehabilitation course.

Will provide a high quality person centred approach to care delivery which always considers people’s safety, privacy and dignity.

To provide specialist care and interventions, assessments, treatments 
and managing patients on a caseload, as part of the wider multidisciplinary care team. 

To provide specialist advice to others regarding the management and 
care of patients / service users.

To devise specialist programmes of care for other professionals to 
deliver and ensure they are delivered appropriately.

To plan, implement and review health improvement programmes in a 
range of settings.

Person specification

Knowledge Skills & Training

Essential criteria
  • Registered practitioner to degree/diploma level supplemented by post registration diploma level specialist training and/or short courses or demonstrable extensive experience in the relevant specialty
  • Membership of the relevant Professional Body
  • Evidence of recent professional development in an up to date portfolio

Job specific Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience at Practitioner Band 5 or above
  • Demonstrable knowledge of assessment and therapeutic interventions in area of specialism
  • Ability to prioritise and organise workload effectively
  • Able to demonstrate specialist clinical reasoning skills to assimilate information in order to make a clinical judgement regarding diagnosis and intervention
Desirable criteria
  • Recent previous experience within a comparable role

Managerial/Supervisory experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of devising and delivering training
  • Experience of managing change

Information technology/Resources

Essential criteria
  • Experience of using electronic patient / service user record systems
