Job overview

If you are looking for work that suits your lifestyle and needs, becoming a Dorset HealthCare Bank Worker could be right for you.  We are currently recruiting for Bank Staff Nurses  - RGN and RMN (Band 5) for our sites across the county.

Our Bank workers work flexibly to fill short term staffing shortages within the teams in our organisation. Shifts can become available up to six weeks in advance as well as at short notice - meaning that you can plan ahead or pick up a shift on the day, easily booking online or via our smart phone app.

You can choose the location and shift patterns that suit you and your family needs and commitments.  You can either work in just the one site or across multiple locations, whichever suits you best.

Depending on your experience we can offer you roles within both physical and mental health settings.

As well as competitive rates of pay you will be eligible for many of the benefits offered to substantive staff, including…

  • Access to the NHS pension scheme
  • An NHS ID card entitling you to many NHS benefits
  • Unsocial hours enhancements (where applicable)
  • Paid annual leave as a percentage of work completed
  • Monthly or weekly pay – your choice!
  • A comprehensive induction and ongoing mandatory training

Bank workers are paid hourly: £14.52 to £17.68, dependant on previous NHS experience.

Applications from candidates that require current Skilled worker sponsorship to work in the UK are unfortunately ineligible to apply for this position.

Main duties of the job

What do we need from you?

  • A current NMC registration and a minimum of 12 months post registration experience
  • Relevant experience if you want to work in a community team (either CMHT for RMN’s or with District or Community Nursing for RGN’s)
  • We ask you to work a minimum of three shifts per month
  • If you are looking to work in a mental health environment then you will be required to undertake the Trust’s ‘Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression’ (PMVA) course and it is a condition that you successfully complete all aspects of this; if this is not achieved you will not be able to commence working.  This course requires a level of fitness and ability to complete – please ensure that you have read the attached information sheet and watched the accompanying video before applying.
  • Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, the cost of which will be covered by the Trust.

Successful applicants will be invited to a values-based assessment and interview day in Wimborne, Dorset on Friday, 24th May 2024; you will need to be available for the full day if invited.
