Job overview

We have an exciting opportunity on a 9 month fixed term contract or secondment for a confident applicant with either a professional registration in mental health nursing or allied health profession to undertake the Clinical Specialist role within the Ripon Integrated Community Team based at Windsor House in Harrogate.

We are interested in connecting with people who can inspire, embrace working as equal partners with internal and external stakeholders, help to design, support and oversee the delivery of the very best care and treatment for local people. Applicants should be enthusiastic and driven, with excellent knowledge of mental health services from across the community system, including primary care, specialist services, local authority & the voluntary and community sector (VCSE).

Main duties of the job

The Integrated Community Team covers the Ripon and rural villages area and is multi-disciplinary professional team. 

The successful candidate will be expected to work autonomously in a fast paced environment and provide clinical leadership within the team working alongside the Team Manager utilising skills to support team members, the role also maintains the offer of intervention and therapies to a defined caseload.

Ideally you will hold a non medical prescribing qualification or be experienced in delivering one of the governed psychological therapies, such as DBT, CAT, CBT, or  EMDR.

The post holder will be part of a resilient and professional team working collaboratively with internal and external partners to support the needs of those who are experiencing a deterioration in their mental health and their family carer needs. The team takes a recovery orientated, formulation driven approach, which values shared decision making.

You will be able to demonstrate strong clinical leadership, supervisory and coaching skills and excellent knowledge of mental health care, the Mental Health Act and complex risk assessment.

Strong team working is essential, requiring networking with a variety of people, as well as working in partnership with a range of different agencies both internal and external to the team.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registration with relevant professional body. (e.g. NMC, GMC, HCPC, Social Work-England)
  • For nursing professions – Recognised Practice Supervisor and /or Practice Assessor, clinical educator or equivalent and
  • Trained in providing clinical supervision
  • For other professions – evidence of training in clinical supervision of other staff and able to demonstrate competence in this area of practice in clinical supervision of other staff and/or students/ trainees.
  • All professions - Postgraduate diploma (or above) in a subject relevant to the area of practice.
  • A recognised advanced clinical qualification or Masters level credits e.g., Intermediate Systemic Family Therapy/Post Grad diploma in CBT/British Isles Dialectical Behaviour Therapy /NMP e.g. dysphagia, posture, autism assessment, rebound, social prescribing, sensory processing, Approved Mental Health Professional, Practice Educator (level 3 Independent Prescriber) * Note any other advanced qualification/masters credits not listed here as an example, must be clearly evidenced and listed as “advanced qualification or masters credits” - within the individuals application form
  • Substantial clinical experience of working in relevant specialist area in collaboration with service users, families and relevant others or transferable experience of similar settings and willing to gain knowledge within first 12 months.
  • Experience of assessing and managing risk (harm to self, others and safeguarding)
  • Substantial experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team
  • Involvement in quality improvement activities

  • Formulations and delivering evidence based interventions
Desirable criteria
  • Experienced gained in governed psychological therapies - DBT,CBT,EMDR, or CAT.

Experience

  • Working with adults in the community with severe mental health difficulties
Desirable criteria
  • Experience working in a community mental health team at band 6 level
  • Experience of working in a mental health care provider environment.
