Our extensive health services are provided by over 7,000 dedicated members of staff working from two acute hospitals in Hastings and Eastbourne, three community hospitals in Bexhill, Rye and Uckfield, over 100 community sites across East Sussex, and in people’s own homes.

In 2020 the Care Quality Commission (CQC) rated us as ‘Good’ overall, and ‘Outstanding’ for being Caring and Effective. The Conquest Hospital in Hastings and our Community Services were rated ‘Outstanding’ and Eastbourne DGH was rated ‘Good’ Our two acute hospitals have Emergency Departments and provide 24 hour a day care, offering a comprehensive range of surgical, medical, outpatient and maternity services, supported by a full range of diagnostic and therapy services.

In the summer of 2020, the Trust launched its ambitious ‘Building for our Future’ (BFF) programme. This once in a lifetime programme aims to redevelop and expand our hospitals at Eastbourne, Hastings and Bexhill, transforming the environment in which we provide care for generations to come.

Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity to join a team who are driving forward a new vision. We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to support jointly  in the leadership of  our growing and evolving service in delivering a high quality, evidence-based approach in response  to and management of the needs of children identified with a developmental or behavioural concern.

The team and service is currently growing to meet local demand and in line with service and skill development plans. We are focussing on developing the skills and knowledge of our Neurodevelopmental Specialist Nurses to allow them to work autonomously and within the wider MDT.  The junior members of the nursing team need leadership support in developing skills and knowledge to support service users.  The ambition is that the nursing team will support families whist on the pathway and also be involved in diagnostic, treatment delivery and plans.

We are focussed on development and for the right person there are lots of opportunities to develop. We can support leadership and clinical opportunities.

Main duties of the job

The individuals will be required to contribute to the role of a team covering a large geographical area, delivering elements of our Community Paediatric Service, which may involve working from different locations within the county and area of service provision.

The successful applicant will work as part of a cross county, multidisciplinary team, currently known as Community Paediatrics, (formerly known as The Scott unit) assessing and supporting children and their families aged 0-19 through referral pathway.

Potential applicants would have a solid knowledge of child development and deviations to the normally developing child and be motivated and interested in supporting families to achieve the best potential for their child.
