Job overview

This is  a great opportunity to join a busy and developing haematology cancer service. You will be well supported by the haematology Multi disciplinary team as we build the expert CNS service. You will be required to work in a team of Nurse Specialists across both Eastbourne and Hastings.

The role entails supporting cancer patients throughout their pathway from referral to treatment.

You will be empathetic and able to deal with competing demands on your time. You will be flexible and analytical in your practice.

As the post holder you will be joining a team of Nurse Specialists and a wider team of allied health care professionals.

Main duties of the job

An opportunity to join our Haematology Cancer CNS team. 

You will be willing to explore the extend role of the post with the opportunity to deliver care autonomously and within an outpatient setting. 

An interest and understanding of cancer patient care and working autonomously is essential.

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • NMC Level One Registration
  • ENB 237 or equivalent
  • ENB 998 Teaching & Assessing
  • Post-graduate training in a relevant specialist field of nursing.
  • Evidence of continuous personal, professional and academic development to Masters level or equivalent level of knowledge and experience
Desirable criteria
  • Nurse prescriber or will achieve nurse prescriber qualification within 6 months of starting post.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant amount of post-registration experience with two years haematology/oncology at Band 6 or above.
  • Experience of multi-professional working
  • Leadership and management experience.
Desirable criteria
  • Consideration will be given to those with extensive experience in related speciality
  • Experience of undertaking audit and research

Skills / Knowlege / Abilities

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge and experience of handling complex relationships
  • Ability to work autonomously and as a member of a small team, as well as part of the wider multidisciplinary team
  • Able to prioritise workload, achieving a balance between clinical work and other aspects of the post.
  • Advanced clinical, managerial and leadership skills in speciality
  • Able to negotiate with and influence the work of staff who are not managed within the team
  • Awareness of changes in health trends Report writing and presentation skills
