Health Care Assistants – Band 2
Acute Assessment Unit
Full Time 37.5 hours- Internal rotation

The Acute Assessment Unit is a 19 bedded fast=paced unit, providing care for diverse medical conditions for all adult patients. A multidisciplinary approach to care is practised. The team is both friendly and supportive, with a strong commitment to providing a high standard of care.
Our aim is to maximise and deliver excellent patient care by using all the resources available. To reduce length of hospital stay and maintain patient flow. This is achieved by having a daily multi-disciplinary meeting, to discuss every patient. The Hospital Intervention Team, Social Services, medical teams and the nursing staff, meet to establish the needs of the patient, the management plan and how a safe discharge can be achieved in the timeliest manner.
We are looking for experienced Health Care Assistants, hospital experience is desirable but not essential. A minimum of NVQ2 in health and social care or the equivalent.
Main duties of the job
The Health Care Assistant (Band 2) is a member of the care team who will support Registered Practitioners in the delivery of routine patient care. The Health Care Assistant will undertake a broad range of care activities under the direct supervision of a Registered Practitioner. The Health care Assistant (Band 2) will also work closely and under supervision of the Health Care Assistant (Band 3) and where relevant Associate Practitioners
We will provide a supportive atmosphere, mentorship and clinical supervision on the ward and are committed to professional development of all staff. Team working is an integral part of both wards with all staff enabled and empowered to make a real difference for their patients.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level 2 in Health and Social Care OR an acceptable, alternative Level 2 Qualification
- Satisfactory General Education and Evidence of additional training relevant to role.
Desirable criteria
- National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level 3 in Health and Social Care OR an acceptable, alternative Level 3 Qualification
Experience
Essential criteria
- 6 Months experience (current) in a Health or Social Care Environment
Desirable criteria
- 3 month (within the last two years) experience of working in NHS
