Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint a registered nurse to the Tuberculosis Nursing team to support in the management and control of Tuberculosis (TB). The successful candidate will need to demonstrate effective communication skills and be able to assist the team within the wider service remit in the control and prevention of TB. You will develop the knowledge and skills necessary to contribute towards the delivery of expert TB care in the community, working in collaboration with Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, the UK Health Security Agency, the local authority, and voluntary sector organisations. The post holder will be expected to work in conjunction with the band 6 TB nurses assisting with caseload management for patients with non-complex standard tuberculosis, running nurse led TB screening clinics and a ‘mop up’ BCG vaccination service. 

Main duties of the job

You will work within a dynamic and innovative culture that is focused on delivering quality patient care. The TB nursing service are a community-based team that deliver care both in the community (which includes lone working), and acute trust settings working across Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire. Essential criteria
  • RGN/RN/Diploma Nursing Studies
  • Evidence of ongoing continuing professional development/Portfolio

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Current legislation and impact on nursing services.
  • Evidence based practice
  • Understanding of audit processes, Key Performance Indicators and Targets, CQUIN collection data and Quality Monitoring Programmes
  • Integrated Team working
Desirable criteria
  • Mentorship or evidence of supervision/teaching/team management
  • To demonstrate an understanding of proactive caseload management.
  • Understanding of research methodology and audit
  • To have an understanding of the principles of restorative practice

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience within Primary/Secondary Care at Band 5 or equivalent
  • Developing and leading practitioners to deliver client responsive services delivering high quality nursing skills and care
  • Experience of initiating and implementing clinical or professional change and evaluation of practice
  • Experience in using IT in clinical practice
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in planning and providing care to patient with Infectious diseases
  • Experience of proactive caseload management and the ability to act as a care coordinator.
  • Experience of collaborative working across organisation both statutory and voluntary services
