Are you passionate about protecting the health of your community? Do you want to make a tangible impact in people's lives and protect children? Join us and lead our thriving Immunisation Team and be the driving force behind the NHS Secondary school flu immunisation programme.
This is a one-year maternity cover contract and a great opportunity for someone seeking career development and the next step into health leadership.
In this role, you will manage and lead a team, organise staffing and support the team with appraisals and 1-to-1 meetings. Your main work will be to coordinate and organise the delivery of vaccines to Secondary schools - DTP, MEN ACWY and HPV.
Mobility is essential for the role, so a car and a valid driving license are a must.
You will also educate individuals and families about the importance of immunisation programs and play a key role in promoting immunisation uptake and addressing vaccine hesitancy
Main duties of the job
- Liaise and arrange to deliver vital immunisations to schools in your area.
- Allocate team members and organise vaccination activities, support your team in their day-to-day activities
- Taking Lead Nurse role where appropriate, including:
- Assessing vaccine eligibility and providing pre-immunisation health checks
- Administer injections with skill, compassion, and a calming presence.
- Contribute to maintaining accurate immunisation records and reporting.
- Liaise and report to the Clinical Delivery Manager
- Organise and manage the potential response to outbreaks.
- Collaborate with colleagues in public health, education, and other sectors to strengthen community outreach.

Our EPUT NHS staff bank is an entity managed by the trust that hires clinical and non-clinical healthcare professionals to take on shifts at our trust hospitals and community settings. Here at EPUT we maintain our own bank of specialist staff to ensure that we are able offer safe and effective care at all times.
All our permanent staff are automatically enrolled onto the staff bank however this does not mean you have to work any additional shifts, but the option is there for you if you wish.
