Job overview

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Part time Band 4 Dental Nurse in Community Dental Services based at Shrewsbury in Inner North East London (INEL).

We are seeking to appoint someone who is passionate about delivering a high-quality standard of care to our patients across London borough of Hackney, Tower Hamlets and Newham.


The range of services includes Sedation, Special Care Dentistry, Paediatric Dentistry, Domiciliary care, Bariatric and Dental Mobile service (Homeless/Medium secure unit)


You will need to be able to work in a very busy environment whilst remaining calm and be able to demonstrate a good understand of and commitment to delivering excellent standards of care.

Whilst the post will be based at an agreed clinic the role is peripatetic and will involve covering at all dental sites in INEL.


You will be required to have the qualification level specified in the person specification in order to carry out the job, however, we do welcome applicants from individuals wishing to further their knowledge and skills and to gain this recognized qualification, which we will support. So, if you do not have the essential qualification for the role, this may not be an automatic barrier to you being offered an interview.

Main duties of the job

 You will be delivering high quality customer services to patients and visitors.


• Providing chair side assistance in clinic to our special care group of patients


• At the times you will also be visiting patients in the community settings such as domiciliary, Homeless centres and the medium secure unit in mobile dental unit.


• You will also be covering reception duties and supporting the entire dental team.


• Undertake specific roles as and when directed by the Dental Nurse team leader to support the day to day running of the clinics implementing service initiatives/developments to ensure compliance with regulatory standards including CQC, Dental Practice Inspections, Standard Operating Procedures, Health & Safety Risk Assessment etc.


• You will need to be able to demonstrate strong leadership, with the ability to work independently, proactively and under pressure.

Additional Working Pattern: Monday to Friday 8:50 to 17:00 with 40 min lunch break

Qualification

Essential criteria
  • GDC Registered Dental Nurse
  • Recognised Dental Nurse qualification
  • Educated to Degree Level or relevant experience
Desirable criteria
  • Post Qualification

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Understanding of and commitment to upholding clinical and GDC standards
  • Evidence of CPD
  • Understanding of SOEL Health
Desirable criteria
  • Understanding of NHS Human Resources policies.
  • Demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of clinical governance processes within the dental services

SKills

Essential criteria
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to work within a team and to work under own initiative
  • Computer literate.
Desirable criteria
  • Taken Part in clinical Audits.
  • Provide feedback from meetings and clearly disseminate information to other team members

Experience

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience within NHS dentistry.
  • In depth Understanding Domicillary Care

  • Experience in providing supervision or training/mentoring of Dental Nurses
