Clinical Support Worker

Band 2

The Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS trust currently care for approximately 500,000 people in the Maidstone & Tunbridge Wells area. The Trust operates from two primary sites; our new state of the art Tunbridge Wells Hospital, the first all single room NHS hospital in England, and Maidstone Hospital.

Ideally situated between the Kent coastline and the capital, the Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells area is a great place to live and work. Tunbridge Wells was recently voted one of the top ten places to live in the UK.

Maidstone Hospital is also home to the Kent Oncology Centre, one of the leading cancer treatment centres in the southeast. The cancer centre treats over 7,000 new patients a year from Kent and East Sussex, and was among the first nationally to benefit from a £4.7 million new treatment system that targets and treats tumours with pinpoint accuracy. The Centre is highly regarded for the excellent care it provides and for its work with major pharmaceutical companies in conducting vital research to support the development of new cancer treatments.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic clinical support worker to join our well established Oncology Outpatient Unit Team. The post holder will join the existing Team to provide support and care for patients attending the Oncology Outpatient Department. They will work with colleagues within the Cancer Centre in supporting patients during their appointments, providing individualised, compassionate and informed patient care. They will support the Senior Nursing Team to develop the Service to meet the needs of the patient group and of the Trust.

You should possess excellent communication and organisational skills and be prepared to develop clinical skills, including venepuncture. You should be visible and accessible with quality and standards as their priority. They will need to be flexible and resilient in order to cope with the demands of the role.

This post will require you to work thirty hours per week to ensure the service is covered Monday-Friday 08.00 – 18.00. Although this job is based at the Maidstone site it may be necessary on rare occasions to travel to the Pembury site for training/meetings.

Job share will be considered.

Please note that appointment to this post will be subject to a satisfactory Disclosure & Barring Service Check at enhanced level. (Enhanced level now includes regulated checks against vulnerable adults and children).
