Job overview

This role presents an exciting opportunity to be part of an ambitious change programme, transforming the way in which universal help and support is offered to children and families in Croydon through the implementation of a Family Hubs approach.

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic midwife to lead on the planning, facilitation and evaluation of preparation for birth and beyond antenatal education groups and bespoke sessions in line with Public Health England advice across the Maternity service.

The Education and Communication Midwife will work in partnership with Family Hub partners to deliver the Family Hubs and Start for Life agenda. The post holder will drive the delivery of parent education directly targeted at increasing the numbers of fathers and other co parents who say they are confident as parents. In line with Start for Life outcomes, they will lead on increasing the number of parents who have been able to access parenting support which suits their needs and wishes.

The post holder will need to have extensive IT knowledge to compile and deliver a virtual parent education package.

Main duties of the job

  • plan, facilitate and evaluate preparation for birth and beyond antenatal education using methods appropriate to support engagement and understanding.
  • deliver information based on current evidence based research, providing the best possible care and experience to service users and their families

  • work collaboratively with members of the multidisciplinary team, in hospital and community venues, including children centre staff, midwifery staff, including members of the infant feeding support teams and medical personnel
  • work collaboratively with other health professionals as well as wider Start for Life partners to ensure current evidence based information is taught to support service users and families make informed choices.

  • Leadership / management qualification or proven track record in professional leadership/management role
  • Experience of equality and diversity policies and procedures
