Job overview

This is an opportunity for 2  motivated and enthusiastic candidates to be Band 7 Ward Managers and become part of a dynamic inpatient forensic service  within the North London Forensic Service (NLFS). The NLFS is a provider of forensic mental health services to the boroughs of Camden, Islington, Barnet, and Enfield & Haringey. There are 12 inpatients wards, medium and low security with 1 female ward. There is also a well-established Community forensic team which offers an important and efficient component of the safe pathway from medium and low secure care into the community. The service provides diverse training opportunities, both clinical and managerial, and has a strong culture of inclusive leadership and user engagement as well as fantastic training and development opportunities. The candidate would join a dynamic and experienced nursing leadership team within an CQC-rated outstanding service.

 

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an experienced mental health or learning disability nurse to provide managerial and clinical leadership to inpatient service ward. The successful post holder will manage a secure ward, leading a diverse team of nurses and healthcare assistants as well as being a senior member of multidisciplinary teams. The post holder will be largely based within the Haringey forensic outreach but will also carry cases from other teams of the forensic community service.

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential criteria
  • RMN Part III/RNLD
  • Evidence of post registration education

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Essential criteria
  • 18 month experience working with relevant client group at Band 6 or equivalent grade
  • Experience of working in learning disability and mental health
  • Understanding of clinical/psychological aspect of day treatment
  • Supervision and appraisal of nurses/healthcare professionals and students

SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES

Essential criteria
  • Excellent leadership qualities
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing
  • Ability to work within multidisciplinary team autonomously
