Homerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust are looking for a qualified and experienced Dental Nurse to join the team on a fixed term contract. You will be part of the dental nurse service in theatres, providing a high standard of care to the patients of Hackney and surrounding areas. The post holder must demonstrate strong clinical dental nursing skills whilst being part of a hard working and motivated team. 

Main duties of the job

As a Dental Nurse in theatres at Homerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust  you will be part of a team who provide high quality dental care to our patients. You will provide support to the respective consultants in Maxillofacial/ Oral Theatres and their teams.

Education and Qualification

Essential criteria
  • N.E.B.D.N National Certificate/ Hospital Proficiency Certificate/ N.V.Q Level 3 Oral Health
  • G.D.C Registration
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of further professional qualification
  • Maintenance of CPD portfolio

Experience

Essential criteria
  • 1 year's clinical experience
  • Evidence of reflective practice demonstrating the link between theory and practice
Desirable criteria
  • 1 year's experience working in an OMFS secondary care environment
  • Evidence of CPD

Skills and Abilities

Essential criteria
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Be able to treat patients, their families and/or carers with empathy, compassion, dignity and respect
  • Good IT skills
  • Ability to work under instruction, show initiative by prioratising workload and be adaptable.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Ability to work within scope of practice and escalate appropriately
Desirable criteria
  • Have experience using electronic patient recording systems and/or scan for safety

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Able to demonstrate knowledge of own professional code of conduct and guidelines issued by the GDC, ensuring they are adhered to at all times
  • Understanding of Infection Prevention Control within theatres
  • Understanding of the trust values
Desirable criteria
  • Have knowledge of the research process and/or have been involved in a research project
  • Understand the role of an audit
