Job overview

We have an exciting new opportunity for a Nurse with Advanced Clinical practice skills, academic qualifications, and the ability to work independently, to join our fantastic expanding nursing team.

This is an excellent time to join our Chemotherapy Day Unit Team at Northwick Park Hospital as we transition our service to a nurse led service with extended opening hours. We are introducing new roles to support upskilling across the nursing workforce supporting the development of a pathway for career progression within the SACT service.

The SACT ANP role is an advanced cancer nursing role that crosses traditional professional boundaries by undertaking medical responsibilities within the scope of clinical, competence. You will work closely with our Consultant Nurse for SACT and 2 Band 7 SACT Nurse Practitioners to assess, diagnose, and provide comprehensive care to our patients undergoing anti-cancer treatment.

Your expertise will be instrumental in supporting and developing new ways of working that emphasise a more efficient, effective, and patient-focused service. You will also serve as a valued clinical resource and actively contribute to the initiatives aimed at enhancing the quality of care we deliver.

The Macmillan Chemotherapy Day Unit provides care for patients with solid tumour and haematological malignancies who require day case chemotherapy, monoclonal antibodies and supportive and preventative treatments.

Education/ Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • 1. Registered Nurse on the NMC Register
  • 2. MSc ANP / ACP or equivalent
  • 3. Recognised Chemotherapy qualification
  • 4. Specialist post registration qualification in oncology
  • 6. Independent Non-Medical Prescriber
Desirable criteria
  • IRMER qualification
  • Advanced communications skills training

Knowledge & Experience

Essential criteria
  • 1. Experience of working as at Nurse Practitioner at band 7 in chemotherapy setting .
  • 2. Experience of assessing patients prior to receiving SACT in a solid tumour setting.
  • 3. Extensive contemporaneous post registration experience in chemotherapy day case setting.
  • 4. Recent chemotherapy administration experience.
  • 5 Involvement in projects/issues related to advanced nursing practice.
  • 6 Teaching and assessing in clinical practice experience
  • 7 Proven leadership and management skills & experience
Desirable criteria
  • • Evidence of practically applied knowledge and skills attained through MSc study
