We are seeking to recruit experienced Staff Nurses to work as part of our enthusiastic Chemotherapy Day Unit team. We are a nurse led service, providing chemotherapy and supportive therapies to patients with Haematological and Solid cancers.

We offer a friendly and supportive environment. With an opportunity for further development with support and supervision.  This post is suited for nurses with more than 12 months post registration experience in oncology (preferably) or within a general adult nursing who have achieved IV and cannulation skills. A full induction and training program will be provided.

On our spacious Cancer Treatment Unit you will be able to rotate between the chemotherapy delivery area, supportive therapies area and apheresis suite. We are committed to your personal and professional development and can offer you a wide range of training and educational opportunities.

The hospital is located within the heart of the City of London, with excellent transport links. Our Unit has amazing views overlooking St Pauls Cathedral, The Old Bailey and is a great location for nearby shopping, gyms and restaurants.

The aim of this post is to develop cancer nurses within the Cancer Day Ward. The post holder will provide direct care to oncology and haemato-oncology patients who are receiving either treatment or supportive care. Whilst,  under the supervision of senior colleagues whilst acquiring and developing the specialist skills and knowledge to meet the needs of this patient group.

  • To provide a high standard of nursing care  to meet the needs of patients with supervision and support from senior colleagues
  • To identify clinical changes in patients and make safe and appropriate decisions in partnership with senior colleagues, seeking timely advice whenever necessary
  • With decreasing levels of supervision the nurse will plan, implement and evaluate care based on our model of nursing ensuring that the needs of each individual patient are addressed
  • Be responsible for the accurate recording of clinical observations and data relating to patients care, ensuring that progress is maintained and reviewed.
  • Be able to present and discuss relevant issues with senior colleagues and the multi-disciplinary team
  • To communicate with patients and families with empathy and reassurance regarding assessment, care and treatment.
  • To utilise equipment and resources safely and efficiently and to take appropriate action to ensure that equipment is maintained in line with ward policy.
  • To participate in the mentorship and teaching of junior, unqualified and student nurses ensuring that senior colleagues are made aware of any identified learning needs or difficulties
  • To offer appropriate support and supervision to unregistered staff within the limits of experience and ability
