We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic midwife with skills in teaching to be part of our education team. S/he will work as part of the team to facilitate the development of required clinical skills by midwives to provide quality, evidence-based, woman-centred care in line with local guidelines and recommendations from national advisory bodies. You will work in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to lead and facilitate a programme of education for fetal monitoring and GAP/GROW and provide clinical leadership and advice to staff to improve staff competence and clinical outcomes.

We provide Maternity Services to approximately 5000 women a year and accommodate our women in very modern up to date facilitates. We have a level 3 Neonatal unit situated within the hospital as well as excellent facilities in Fetal Medicine

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd
To provide a high standard of midwifery care at all times, working within a multi- disciplinary team to facilitate the development of required clinical skills to midwives. Support and work with the Lead Obstetrician, Consultant Midwife for High Risk Pregnancy, the Matron for Labour Ward, Education team and Midwives in developing a programme of education for cardiotocography interpretation to achieve better birth outcomes.
Support / assist in the development of advanced and new roles aimed at improving patient care within the maternity unit. Create good learning opportunities and environments in the clinical practice environment and maintain communication networks with other clinical skills facilitators.

Qualifications

- Registered Midwife
- Mentorship Module or Equivalent
- First Class Degree or evidence of working towards.
- Expert midwifery knowledge.

- PROMPT Course or Equivalent
- Advanced Life Support
- Teaching in Clinical Practice or Equivalent
- Master’s Degree.
- Management/Leadership Qualification. PGCSCHE
- Current UK Driving License
Experience

- Evidence of clinical and professional expertise, Underpinned by knowledge acquired through CPD Experience in changing clinical practice
- Ability to apply audit and evidence-based Midwifery/Nursing practice
- Experience of clinical teaching and/or supporting students in practice
- Undertaking and evaluating quality of innovative programmes
- Experience of group facilitation and clinical teaching

- Experience as a Band 7 in high risk labour ward
- Band 6 experience working in an obstetric unit
Knowledge

- Good written and spoken English
- A comprehensive understanding of own development and training needs
- Demonstrates specialist expertise underpinned by theory
- A clear understanding and application of the principals of professional accountability and confidentiality.
- Ability to provide care to women before, during and following birth Proven Competency in: Suturing/Cannulation/IV administration/Epidurals/Water Birth/Adult & Neonatal Resuscitation/operating theatre practiced Neonatal Advanced Life Support (NALS)
- Demonstrates expert knowledge of CTG interpretation
- Ability to assess competency in others in Suturing/Cannulation/IV Administration/Epidurals/Water Birth/Adult & Neonatal Resuscitation/operating theatre Practice.
- Ability to recognize and analyze complex situations and or deviation from normal and act upon it.
- Ability to deal with issues of Risk Management within the clinical context
- Ability to organize, prioritize and coordinate own work
- Awareness of the educational budget and resources. Experience of leadership and teaching and mentoring learners
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Demonstrates diplomacy and tact
- Flexible and positive style and approach to work. Knowledge of equal opportunities issues. Demonstrates good presentation Skills
- Experience of change management and negotiation
- Have sound clinical knowledge and appropriate clinical skills with ability to teach fetal monitoring and obstetric emergencies amongst other skills
