Ward 4C at the Barts Thorax Centre

(4th Floor at the Barts Heart Centre)

We are looking for a band 5 staff nurse OR (newly qualified working towards PIN) to join our team, we are based at Barts Heart Centre in the historical part of London. Ward 4c is a busy 26 bedded Thoracic (Lung) and Breast surgical ward. We care mainly for oncology and trauma patient’s pre and post operatively. We are looking for someone who is cheerful, professional, enthusiastic and be flexible in this post. You will be accountable to the Ward manager and work closely with nurses and other members of the multidisciplinary team. 

Main duties of the job

The aim of this post is to provide direct patient care and enhance the well-being of patients by developing specific clinical competencies and enhancing knowledge through a lifelong learning approach

  • RGN/ RN
Desirable criteria
  • Intravenous accreditation
  • Prep for mentorship course or equivalent

Experience

  • Previous ward experience
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience in cardiothoracic setting

Knowledge

  • Ability to self reflect, carry out tasks of own job and identify what further learning is required to do current role more effectively.

  • Can demonstrate a knowledge of current and emerging health care issues.
  • Ability to identify deteriorating Patients.
