We are excited to announce there is an opportunity  for an experienced HIV Nurse to join our Sexual health service based at Clifden Center.

We are looking for an HIV nurse with significant experience in the specialty. Evidence of organizational and leadership potential as well as a commitment to teaching and facilitating training is essential. 

You will join a forward thinking multi-disciplinary team dedicated to delivering high standards of care in a diverse community. Applicants must enjoy a fast pace environment as well as having a keen interest in delivering excellence in holistic care.

The post holder will be expected to rotate between the HIV and Sexual Health department where needed.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide the highest standard of Individualized and holistic person centred care for people living with and affected by HIV/AIDS, and other related sexual health conditions using the 
NHIVNA competencies as the practice framework. 

The post holder will provide leadership, management and support within the nursing team working closely with other related disciplines within and without the department to provide a seamless HIV service. 

The post holder is responsible for ensuring that patient care is evidence based and of a high standard and will deputize for the HIV Charge Nurse as required.

Essential criteria
  • Leadership skills and ability to manage a developing service
  • Excellent Communication skills
Desirable criteria
  • Successful achievement of the Physical assessment course
  • Successful achievement of the Non Medical Prescriber qualification

Education & Qualification

Essential criteria
  • RGN Level 1
  • ENB 934 or equivalent
  • ENB 998
Desirable criteria
  • Counselling training
  • Further Training in HIV
  • Successful achievement's of the NHIVNA Competencies

Experience

Essential criteria
  • High Level of clinical experience with clients and families infected/affected by HIV
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working with an inner city, multi-cultural community

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the application of evidence-based practice
  • Knowledge of current issues and trends in HIV care and in nursing nationally
  • Knowledge and understanding of the NHIVNA competencies and the BHIVA Guidelines
Desirable criteria
