Job overview

Join an exciting collaboration between Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and the Dementia Research Institute at Imperial College, aimed at transforming dementia care through digital innovation. This pioneering project builds on the work of the Dementia Research Institute Minder Project and combines clinical expertise with cutting-edge research to provide remote support for individuals living with dementia and their families. We are seeking a dedicated Band 7 Dementia Specialist Clinician to join our dynamic team and play a key role in this groundbreaking initiative. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to innovative research and shape the future of dementia care delivery.

You will work within the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust team and take a lead role in organizing and coordinating the delivery of our dementia care service within the digital hub. Working independently, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the service, ensuring the smooth flow of patient care, and actively contributing to the development of innovative approaches to dementia care. The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic and confident registered clinician with extensive experience in direct dementia care, preferably with an academic background or a strong interest in research and educated to master's level. This is a 2-year fixed-term contract position, with secondments also considered.

Main duties of the job

  • This is a multifaceted role with responsibility for improving the care and support of people with dementia and their families/carers and developing community links across all of our sites inclusive of satellite units and partner organisations.
  • The post-holder will work predominantly on the digital hub site at St Charles Hospital and regularly at the main Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust sites
  • Provide specialist advice to support and facilitate high quality, individualised care to patients/clients and relatives/carers without supervision in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team in line with local and national targets
  • The post holder will provide day to day operational management of the digital hub at St Charles Hospital and will work closely with research and project partners to deliver the service
  • To provide an up to date and interactive training programme for all members of staff substantive and contracted.

Essential criteria
  • Teaching and Assessing qualification or equivalent teaching experience.
  • Registered Healthcare Professional

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience of working directly with people living with dementia or equivalent.
  • Post registration experience in a relevant area with experience of change management.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working in an acute hospital setting

Skills/Knowledge/ Abilities

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of research and audit including implementation of findings and review of outcomes
  • Ability to practice within the scope of the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
