Main duties of the job

To work as a prime care provider in all aspects of midwifery care. To work flexibly within the team to provide service cover for Maternity Triage/Maternity Day Assessment Unit on a long rotation basis.

Person specification

Education/ qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered Midwife
  • BSc in Midwifery
  • Completed preceptorship course
  • Assessor/mentorship course or full SSSA equivalent
  • Champion for midwifery led care

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Completed 1 year post registration clinical experience working as an RM in the UK
  • Awareness of professional responsibilities
  • Able to demonstrate an understanding of clinical governance and risk assessment
  • Experience of working in all clinical settings
  • Ability to present information to a multidisciplinary team
Desirable criteria
  • Experience working in Maternity Triage/Maternity Day Assessment Unit
  • Able to demonstrate conducting annual appraisals

Skills/knowledge/ abilities

Essential criteria
  • Excellent communication skills
  • The ability to be flexible
  • Excellent clinical decision making skills
  • Knowledge of obstetric emergency skills and drills and the ability to perform in an emergency situation
  • IV drugs administration and cannulation
