Job overview
This is an excellent opportunity for a CAMHS clinician/ Specialist Eating Disorder Nurse to join our community early intervention Eating Difficulties Service. Working in close collaboration with CAMHS services across North Central London and the specialist Eating Disorder Service at the Royal Free Hospital, we are looking for candidates with experience of working in eating disorders or child and adolescent mental health, from clinical/counselling psychology, systemic psychotherapy or nursing who enjoy working in the community with children aged 8-18 years.
The primary role will be assessment and treatment for early onset eating difficulties and mild Arfid, using evidence based interventions such as CBT, Family Therapy for Anorexia (FT-AN), and other therapeutic interventions within their profession. Group work and psyco education also forms a core part of the work we do.
Main duties of the job
This is one of five specialist CYP Eating Disorder CAMHS Practitioner posts placed within CAMHS services across North Central London to provide clinical interventions to all children and young people referred with early onset disordered eating in need of treatment. As a CAMHS practitioner you will be working as part of an early intervention offer and will deliver effective evidence-based services, to include support for children and young people presenting with mild to moderate avoidant restrictive food intake disorder.
You will be expected to work in the community as well as at the Tavistock and Portman site, hold a clinical caseload and deliver trainings and group work as part of the early intervention offer . You will be employed by the Tavistock & Portman NHS Foundation Trust and will be co-located within the respective locality CAMHS teams across North Central London for a minimum of 2 days per week.
Working within a multi-disciplinary team, you will receive regular clinical supervision from a senior member of the Service. You will also be expected to work jointly with other members of the team offering specialist CAMHS Eating Difficulties advice, consultation and training as required.
You will have a keen interest in improving outcomes for young people with early onset eating difficulties and you will be provided alongside access to the training and CPD opportunities working at the Tavistock and Portman enables.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Degree level as a minimum plus developed specialist and practical knowledge equating to postgraduate degree/ Masters level
- Registration with relevant body as a Psychologist, Social Worker, Nurse, Psychotherapist, or Systemic Therapist
Experience
Essential criteria
- Evidence of clinical experience of working with client population. A clear track record of managing complexity and risk whilst maintaining high standards of service delivery
- A comprehensive understanding of the changing NHS and Social Care environment and the challenges they face
- Experience of working at all levels of the system with internal and external stakeholders
- Expertise of managing and treating the client group Some experience of clinical supervision
Desirable criteria
