CNWL (Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust) has almost 7,000 staff providing integrated healthcare to a third of London's population, Milton Keynes and areas beyond. We involve service users, carers, the public, staff and partner organisations in the way that we are run. You can become a member by visiting our website.
Our catchment area spans diverse communities, with over 100 first languages spoken. It contains areas of great affluence as well as areas of much deprivation. We are committed to providing services that meet the needs of the people who use them, and we actively encourage involvement from local people who can help make a difference. We’re proud of our diversity and we continue to undertake new initiatives to advance equality for LGBT+, BME and people with disabilities to promote good relations and understanding between our staff.
CNWL is recognised locally, nationally and internationally for providing high quality, innovative healthcare. We aim to employ only the best people, and our experts are frequently called upon to contribute to national health strategy and policy, and many models of our care have been adapted for use in other countries.

Are you looking for new challenges? Do you want to work in an ever changing environment where no two days are the same? Do you want to feel that you really make a difference?
Have you answered yes to these questions?
This might be the job for you…
We are looking for a Registered Mental Health Nurse to join us at HMP High Down as part of the multi-disciplinary Mental Health Team to assess the mental health needs of prisoners and provide appropriate interventions.
In our Offender Care services you'll have the opportunity to work alongside other members of healthcare, prison staff and other agencies to assess and support prisoners during their early days in custody. You will be able to contribute to risk assessments during prisoners’ early days in custody and ensure information is shared with the rest of the mental health team carrying out further assessment and referrals if required. There will also be the opportunity, dependent on need to establish and maintain a depot clinic.
We work with men who are on remand or sentenced. Our job is not to judge, our job is to provide exceptional care with kindness and compassion. Our focus is to develop an understanding of each prisoner’s current presentation and past risk and encourage a recovery-focused approach to achieving their goals. You could make a difference through your approach and the interventions you provide.
CNWL Offender Care operate Primary Care and Mental Health Services within the Surrey prisons of HMP Send, HMP Coldingley, HMP High Down, HMP Downview and Mental Health Services within HMP Bronzefield.
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
