                                       Practice Development Nurse x 2

                      Secondment/Fixed Term  (up to 31st March 2025)

We are pleased to offer an exciting internal opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic Band 6 nurse to join the team as a Practice Development Nurse on a 6-month secondment. 

This role will support the development and delivery of high-quality clinical education and professional development initiatives across the service with a key focus on Professional Standards .

The successful candidate/s will work closely with clinical teams to promote best practice, enhance staff competencies, and contribute to a culture of continuous learning.

Main duties of the job

To promote within the wards a learning environment that optimises each staff’s clinical development and facilitates a ‘best practice’ principle for patient care that is evidence based.

· Be a role model and maintain clinical expertise to support learners, support teaching and assessment of learning in the practice area.

· Work in the clinical environment for up to 80% of contracted hours providing holistic direct nursing care alongside other staff needing support and development. Up to 20% of time will be required to teach on development programmes and plan educational support. Under the supervision of the Band 7 Practice Educators to develop/contribute to the development teaching materials and presentations.

· Provide specialist nursing advice, supporting and facilitating high quality, individualised care to patients /clients and relatives/carers in collaboration with the multi professional team, in line with the local and national targets.

· Ensure that care of the patient and their relatives is of the highest standard and based on best practice guidelines

· Demonstrates the ability to personally be a role model in providing a high standard of care based on the best evidence.

· To work within CUH local protocols and guidelines and the Trust Quality Standards

Education and qualifications

Essential criteria
  • NMC Registered Nurse
  • 1st level Registered Nurse
  • Mentorship Qualification/Practice Assessor
  • Evidence of continued professional development
  • A good level of teaching experience
  • An appreciation of the wider nursing agenda
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of recent related study at level 6/7
  • Post Graduate Certificate of Education

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Proven experience as a clinical nurse
  • Strong leadership and management skills
  • Ability to prioritise workload
  • Working clinically with new/junior staff in a supervisory or educative role
  • Experience of working collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team
Desirable criteria
  • Understanding/Experience of Training Needs Analysis
  • Experience of leading a team
  • Working with Higher Education Institutes
  • Developing educational programmes/Study Days
