An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our well established North Manchester General Hospital (NMGH) Corporate Team to lead as the Head of Nursing for Workforce, Education and Practice at NMGH within Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT). 

 

Main duties of the job

The Role

We are looking to appoint an established and talented senior nurse to lead on the delivery of the Workforce, Education and Practice agenda. 

Reporting directly to the Deputy Director of Nursing, the Corporate Head of Nursing role will have a specific responsibility of leading on driving change, empowering senior nurses to develop and utilise clinical leadership skills, and ensuring they have appropriate levels of authority to undertake their role effectively and fulfill their accountabilities including measurement of workforce metrics, improvement methodology and acting as a catalyst for change for the delivery of safe high-quality clinical care. 

The Corporate Head of Nursing will put systems in place to monitor and continuously improve workforce standards through developing our people and growing our workforce to provide the best patient experience. You will be responsible for ensuring an evidence base is applied to ensure safe staffing and patient safety and looking for digital solutions to support the safe deployment and monitoring of NMAHP workforce. 

You will provide professional leadership across care settings and be responsible for ensuring standards of nursing, midwifery and allied health professional care is implemented in line with the Trust's objectives of clinical quality and safety. 

What’s more, you’ll support the development and implementation of group policies and will contribute to the NMGH-wide projects so expect huge variety in this role.

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Masters or equivalent in health-related subject.
  • Knowledge of professional development agenda in the NHS
Desirable criteria
  • Management qualification.
  • Post registration qualification.
  • Project management certificate (e.g. PRINCE2 Foundation)
  • Appropriate teaching qualification

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of managing across a range of care settings
  • Significant experience in leading professional practice issues
  • Working with national programmes
  • Significant experience across a range of health care priorities
Desirable criteria
  • Directorate management experience

Skills

  • Evidence of managing conflict and deploying successful conflict resolution strategies

Registration

  • First level registration NMC registered graduate in Nursing/Midwifery Graduate in health related subject
