Junior Sister/Charge Nurse

Job overview

As a ward sister or charge nurse, you will be the responsible nurse in charge for the unit. You will also be responsible for assisting the ward manager with day to day activities such as:
- Co-ordinating the flow of admissions and discharges
- Liaising with members of the MDT
- Ensuring the unit is appropriately staffed, raising any staffing issues or
concerns
- Managing staff including concerns
- Dealing with concerns according to local and Trust policy
- Supporting the nursing team in delivery of care
- Responding to incidents in line with local and trust policy

Main duties of the job

As a ward sister or charge nurse, you will be the responsible nurse in charge for the unit., you will also be responsible for assisting the ward manager with day to day activities such as:
- You will manage sickness, staff wellbeing, incident reporting, clinical
governance, staff training and development, clinical audits, IQP and other
managerial duties.
- You will be an aspiring leader with the ability to adopt a highly accessible and visible approach for patients, relatives and colleagues. 

You will assist the Ward Manager with the operational management for the team working on the Ward.
- You will have the ability to develop a culture of continuous improvement with a particular emphasis on the patient journey and clinical outcomes.
