Neurology Senior Research Nurse

Band 6

Our new Northern Care Alliance NHS Group unites five local hospitals to deliver high quality care across the North East of Greater Manchester.

The Alliance provides the benefits of scale but delivers this locally through multiple hospital sites which make up four new Care Organisations – Bury/Rochdale, North Manchester, Oldham and Salford. Using our mantra of ‘Saving lives, Improving lives’, the aim is for our Care Organisations to work closely with the communities they serve to deliver safe, high quality and reliable care, which are trusted, connected and pioneering.

Our Care Organisations are designed to operate within our group arrangement of hospitals, community and healthcare services which bring together over 17,000 staff and the services of The Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust and Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust. Our size and geographical reach means we are creating an environment each individual will be inspired and empowered by to be the best they can be.  This is a really exciting time to join our new team.

Salford Royal Foundation Trust (SRFT) has been awarded second in the country by the Care Quality Commission and has been awarded outstanding for care, quality and their work in Dementia. SRFT are currently the biggest recruiter to division 4 (Neuro-degenerative) studies in England and being successful with 1st UK recruiter on various studies within the field of general Neurology and Neurodegenerative.

The Trust prides itself on the quality of care provided and aims to be the safest organisation in the NHS through providing safe, clean and personal care to every patient, every time.

We are unique in that we operate a joint Research & Innovation department with a communication and engagement team, improving awareness to the wider research community. We are also a partner within MAHSC designed to underpin the development of Greater Manchester as a world leader in health research.

Many of our trials are undertaken in our dedicated purpose built Clinical Research Facility (CRF), currently consisting of 6 treatment rooms, an infusion area, lab processing area, temperature controlled pharmacy facility and most importantly a highly experienced and motivated team of Research Nurses/Practitioners, Research Assistants, Research Physicians and Clinical Trials Support staff. We are a highly visible research active Trust and as a Research Nurse at SRFT you would be part of our dedicated enthusiastic research community with the opportunity to share best practice with highly experienced colleagues.

We are looking for a motivated and effective communicator with a ‘can do’ attitude and an eye for detail; they will need to take ownership and delivery of their work with a desire to develop their research skills.

You will work within Neurology and Neuro-degenerative field delivering within MS, Epilepsy, Rare disease, Migraine, sleep disorders, MND and genetics.

You should be organised/able to prioritize and demonstrate initiative, within the ethically approved confines of the protocol and Good Clinical Practice; able to thrive on challenges and be an effective problem solver.

This will be a rewarding post adding value to the working practices of our team of researchers, and will benefit and allow development of someone who aspires to work in research within the NHS if this is you then we would like to hear from you.

Salford Royal has teamed up with housing association Salix Homes to provide a 26-apartment complex for doctors, nurses and other clinical staff who work at the organisation. Subsidised accommodation is available to new entrants to the Trust.

In line with the Trust’s Single Equality Scheme we welcome applications from everyone irrespective of ethnic origin, disability, age, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, nationality, religion, marital status, social back ground or trade union membership. However, as members of ethnicity minority  groups and individuals with disabilities are currently under-represented at this level of post, we would encourage applications from members of these groups.  Appointment will be based on merit alone.
