An exciting opportunity has arisen for Midwives to join the Community Midwifery team in the  High Peak. We are an established Midwifery team working together with partnership services, We deliver excellent ante-natal  and postnatal service,  and facilitate 

Evidence of continual professional development and previous intra-partum experience enabling skills that support birth in high and low risk environments would be essential for this role. Community experience including knowledge of safeguarding procedures and caring for vulnerable families would be advantageous.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

 Main Duties and Responsibilities

 Professional

  1. Has a thorough understanding of and abides by statutory publications that directly affect the Midwife’s role, responsibilities and accountability.
  2. Accepts responsibility for personal, professional development and education needs, including attendance at in-service training and mandatory study days.
  3. Participates in hospital audit and research programmes in order to rationalise professional care.
  4. Acts as a supervisor/assessor to Student Midwives/Nurses and facilitates the creation of a learning environment.
  5. Acts as a preceptor to newly qualified staff and demonstrates the ability to provide ongoing support for junior colleagues.
  6. Disseminates professional and clinical knowledge to colleagues by participation in presentations, research groups etc.
  7. Demonstrates a thorough understanding of the role of the Professional Midwifery Advocate.
  8. Understands Clinical Governance, Risk Management and the Quality Agenda, and participates in Clinical Incident Reporting where necessary.
  9. To have an awareness of contributing to and supporting the Band 7 midwife to achieve compliance with the CQC outcomes and CNST standards.

• If successful this vacancy will require an enhanced DBS check at a cost of £41.90. This cost will be deducted from your first Trust salary

In addition to this it will be a condition of your employment that you will join the DBS update service and pay the annual subscription fee of £13.
