Macmillan CNS post – Dermatology (Band 7)

An exciting opportunity has arisen within our dermatology department for an experienced individual  to join our friendly and supportive team of nurses and Consultants at MFT. 

The successful candidate will work primarily within Dermatology OPD within the Skin Cancer service. They will work alongside consultants, diagnosing actual and potential skin cancers, and reviewing patients following diagnosis with skin cancer, inform the patients of their diagnosis, and support and monitor the patient group throughout their journey on to oncology and plastic surgery centres. 

The successful candidate will also have line management responsibility alongside the current band 7 CNS.

This is an exciting time to be joining the service with a number of transformative projects to improve the patient experience which includes  one-stop clinics and skin analytics which will require the candidate to work across all four of our sites (Withington, Wythenshawe, Trafford General and Altrincham Hospital).

We are a forward-thinking team offering opportunities to develop both your clinical and professional skills, to effectively manage both acute and chronic skin disease and will support your learning and development. Surgery skills competence would be welcomed which will support our busy department, but training will be provided for the candidate if necessary. Participation in clinical audit is expected.

 

 

 

 

 

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be expected to act as a role model to all team members in the delivery of a high standard of specialist research-based care. 

The post holder is responsible for ensuring immediate care to skin cancer patients and will work within the dermatology service. The post holder will assess plan, implement an d evaluate the care for these patients and ve able to make informed decisions within their own are. They will prove direct patient care and have detailed clinical knowledge of the specialist areas.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • First level registration RGN / RN Adult
  • Degree or evidence of Level 6 studies / pathway towards Degree
  • Teaching qualification
Desirable criteria
  • Management/Leadership qualification
  • Relevant dermatology qualifications
  • Non-Medical Prescriber

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Relevant dermatology experience or transferable skills
  • Evidence of relevant cancer experience and Macmillan professionals
  • Evidence of professional leadership, leading innovation in practice
Desirable criteria
  • Expereince of setting up / developing own nurse-led clinics / services
  • Evidence of audit / research activities
  • Experienced in use of Biologic therapies for eczema and psoriasis
  • Experienced in teaching or lecturing at internal / external venues
