Please note this post is for a clinical educator specifically for stroke services and not deconditioning 

This is an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse to join our team working across the Stroke Service to ensure a high standard of clinical education is delivered to all members of the nursing teams within the stroke service. 

The successful candidate will develop, deliver and maintain the stroke education program using evidence based research and working within the national stroke strategy.

The successful candidate will ensure that all elements of education provided are within the SSEF framework.

The role will involve working at the Aintree site of the Liverpool University Hospital facilitating training and support to our colleagues and learners within stroke care.

We are looking for an experienced nurse with a extensive background in stroke care to deliver bespoke training to improve patient safety and quality of care in relation to ongoing educational resources and support to individuals to reinforce their commitment to our patients..

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

  • This post holder will act as a clinical expert in stroke care.
  • They will act as an expert at the Aintree site offering support and training to colleagues and learners in relation to patient stroke care.
  • The post holder will have a responsibility to adapt and develop the training programme in partnership with ward areas and national  initiatives and guidance.
  • The post holder will carry responsibility for delivering the key performance indicators within stroke education.
  • This will include working with other educators across the site to implement  strategies and interventions to maintain or improve patients' physical and functional abilities during their hospital stay.
  • The post holder will contribute and foster collaboration amongst healthcare professionals, including physicians, nurses, physiotherapists, and occupational therapists to achieve the overall objectives within stroke specific education
  • The post holder will work closely with the PEF team within specialist medicine to support the delivery of stroke education
  • The post holder will work clinically with nursing teams to ensure stroke specific competencies are maintained 
  • The post holder will work with Ward managers and medical PEFs to deliver support mechanisms and improvement plans for colleagues that may not be meeting the expected competence.

Leadership

  • Act as a role model and expert nurse/therapist providing in depth highly specialist clinical & educational knowledge to their clinical colleagues and in patients.
  • Undertake clinical supervision of nursing/therapy colleagues within the field of education on an individual or group
  • Act as a resource for health care professionals by being visible, available, and accessible for support and advice in relation to the education and professional development of clinical
  • Ensure the effective and efficient use of physical and financial resources.
  • Lead/contribute to consultations on the development of education strategies for inpatient deconditioning.
  • Responsible for monitoring health, safety and security of self, the team and others and promote best practice in the clinical and educational
  • Ensure systems are in place for risk assessment and minimisation including promoting “no blame” cultures in order that near misses and incidents are
  • When required, take the lead in investigation of incidents / complaints including providing detailed
  • Act as an innovative, enthusiastic role model providing leadership, guidance, and advice to staff on operational and professional issues, promoting an open and honest and transparent culture.
  • Demonstrate clinical and educational leadership and challenge speciality and directorate boundaries to enhance and support education in practice.

 

Management / Operational

  • To identify and develop proposals and business cases as required for future service
  • Take the lead when required to develop and influence the development of educational practice / services in the clinical/ educational setting through the business planning process / service development and in conjunction with the Corporate teams, Head of Professional and Practice Development and Director of Nursing.

 

Advocate

  • Ensure that high standards of nursing education/training are delivered and maintained and act when standards are not being
  • Involve clinical colleagues and candidates in the planning and delivery of the education in practice to reduce the incidence of in-patient deconditioning.
  • Act as an advocate and ambassador for all staff and patients as required.
  • Take the lead when required to develop the programme further and the provision of information for all members of the multidisciplinary team.

    • Continually monitor for evidence-based changes in Clinical Guidelines and facilitate the dissemination of this knowledge and practical skills through education and
    • Disseminate good practice and knowledge by pursuing opportunities to present work at national conferences or via publications, encourage team members
