We are one of the busiest university teaching hospital trusts in North West England. We manage three hospitals based on two sites: the Royal Liverpool University Hospital, Liverpool University Dental Hospital and Broadgreen Hospital.  Our hospitals have often been at the forefront of medical breakthroughs during our long history at the heart of the city.

Senior Operating Department Practitioner Band 6 - Anaesthetics

Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals

Sites: Broadgreen and Royal Liverpool - with a view to rotation between both sites.

An exciting career opportunity has arisen for the position of Senior Theatre Practitioner Band 6.

We have over 20 operating theatres covering all major specialities, including: Trauma and Orthopaedics, Vascular, Urology (including robotic surgery), Breast and Endocrine. Renal Transplant, Upper G I, Colorectal, Hepatobiliary and Emergency surgery. We also have 8 additional operating theatres at our Broadgreen Hospital site that facilitates the following surgery: Urology, ENT, General and Elective Orthopaedics.

The post is specifically for those able to demonstrate the required anaesthetic experience whilst working at Band 5 level or at Band 6 whilst looking to develop yourself within a new challenging environment and role.

We require a dynamic and motivated Anaesthetic Practitioner who is looking to develop themselves and their career within our challenging and rewarding theatre directorate.

ODP Clinical Areas of Practice:

The ODP service requirements include working in the following areas: Critical Care Commitments - inter and intra-hospital transfers 24 hour Cardiac Arrest cover and Trauma cover in A&E Resus Interventional Theatres including CT and MRI Hospital at night cover performing the advanced role of airway specialist Anaesthetic cover over two main hospital sites, Dental Theatres, St Pauls Eyes Hospital , Gastro, Electroconvulsive Therapy Pain Management Theatre So what can you bring to our team ?

In order to provide the finest possible care we aim to attract, train and provide on-going support to the right people who can join our existing team of highly skilled professionals , all of whom are committed to making a positive difference to our patients. We will provide you with support, guidance and robust mentoring throughout your development as a Senior Theatre Operating Department Practitioner.

The successful candidate will hold the appropriate qualifications as a registered ODP practitioner and demonstrate evidence of continuing professional development aligned to the expected level of experience and expertise working clinically on anaesthetics.

Role Specific: The successful candidate must also be able to demonstrate the following experience and qualities:

Evidence of management and leadership experience.

Application of current healthcare issues and healthcare governance.

Application of evidence based practice.

Evidence of developing high standards of patient care.

Excellent communication skills.

Ability to work in changing environments.

All staff are required to participate in the "on call" commitment for emergency surgery and out of hours rota covering 24/7 that would also include weekends, late shift patterns and nights.
