An exciting  opportunity has arisen within the Mid Mersey Division to  manage  Rydal Ward, which is and older adult functional ward at Knowsley resource and recovery centre. Candidates need to have excellent leadership and interpersonal skills that will enable them to challenge, motivate, influence and inspire their colleagues at all levels, and have an understanding of leading and managing an acute inpatient ward. 

Main duties of the job

The post holder will carry managerial responsibility over a 24 hour period. They will be  responsible for the performance and delivery of high quality, evidenced based and person  centred care. The post holder will operate as part of an integrated multi-disciplinary team but be expected to  be flexible in terms of delivering care within the ward setting.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

1.1 Provide effective leadership/ management to the designated team. 
1.2 Formulate and implement local clinical and operational practices and procedures as appropriate. 
1.3 Represent the Operational Business manager/ Modern matron at meetings as required. 
1.4 Ensure effective deployment of staff and other resources within the service to deliver the required service and agreed standards. 
1.5 Participate in the recruitment and selection process in accordance with Trust policy. 
1.6 Ensure effective induction of new staff in accordance with Trust policy 
1.7 Ensure exit interviews are offered to staff on leaving the organisation/moving teams within the Trust. 
1.8 Ensure the implementation, monitoring and updating of an operational policy and philosophy for the clinical team. 
1.9 Ensure the principles of Clinical Governance are incorporated in service delivery by  maintaining a high quality service based on agreed clinical standards. 
1.10 Ensure adherence and implementation of Effective Care Coordination within their scope of responsibility. 
1.11 Ensure that Trust policies and procedures are understood and adhered to by all staff  within their scope of responsibility. 
1.12 Develop local protocols involving team members to ensure a high standard of service delivery is achieved and maintained. 
1.13 Lead and ensure staff participation in the formulation of new ideas/suggestions to improve  service user care and service delivery.
1.14 Ensure that the Managing Performance Policy is adhered to. 
1.15 Ensure that the Managing Attendance Policy is adhered to.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Relevant professional qualification eg. RMN, RNLD, OT, SW and current professional registration. (to be maintained)
