An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Deputy Ward Manager to work on Dee ward , an all female acute ward in Clock View Hospital.

Future aims for Dee Ward include therapeutic and psychological input for clients, this will be driven and provided by the staffing team so staff coming into this role will eventually be provided with additional training that you would not experience working in any of the other local division inpatient wards.

We are looking to recruit a Deputy Ward Manager to join the busy and multi-disciplinary team on Dee Ward.

Successful applicants will be able to support the Ward Manager in  ensuring the environment is managed safely and effectively over a 24-hour period. 

Ensuring the delivery of high standard of care to Service Users,  providing support, supervision and education for colleagues, other professionals and students. 

You will be required to provide clinical advice, expertise and leadership to Ward Staff. You will be required to liaise with other professionals and support the Ward Manager in developing the team and acting up as required.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Dee ward  is 17 bedded acute female ward based at Clock View Hospital that provides acute treatment, and support to service users, who are experiencing a mental health crisis, and often present with a variety of complex mental health needs.

To maximise service user recovery, the team works in a trauma informed way. Our aim is to work in the least restrictive way as possible whilst maintaining patient safety. We work closely with the PD Hub with a strong focus on the self harm project.

Upon joining our team, we will ensure that you undergo both mandatory and bespoke training, to fully equip you with the skills required to work within our team.

Knowledge/ Experience

Essential criteria
  • Relevant experience at E grade or above
  • Evidence of experience of working with older people with mental health problems in a variety of health care settings
  • Knowledge of relevant Mental Health legislation
  • Knowledge of Mental Health Nursing interventions
  • Knowledge of clinical risk and Health & Safety Management
  • Demonstrate knowledge of ECC guidelines
  • Ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Demonstrate knowledge in the concepts of mentorship, preceptorship and supervision and ability to provide education and supervision to qualified and unqualified staff
  • Demonstrate a good knowledge of the Code of Conduct and the nurses’ responsibility to identify gaps in their knowledge base
Desirable criteria
  • Proven experience of leadership and management

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered Mental Health Nurse
Desirable criteria
  • First line management e.g., Leo
  • Evidence of post registration study / continuing professional development e.g., ENB 998 / Mentorship in Practice or D32, 33 NVQ
  • Approved training in phlebotomy
