Please be advised that there is a temporary top up for Bands 1,2 and 3 to reflect the incorporation of the top up to the  living wage of £12 per hour - £23,465 per annum. This temporary top up will be in place until  the annual pay uplift for 2024/25 is confirmed

The City and Borough of Newport is situated on the M4 corridor and serves a population of approximately 156,000. Newport offers excellent transport links to Cardiff, Bristol and beyond.

We currently have full time & part time vacancies for enthusiastic Health Visitors to join the Newport Health Visiting Team. We welcome applications from Newly Qualified and experienced Health Visitors who really want to make a difference in the community.

Our Teams consist of Health Visitors, Specialist Health Visitors , Health Visiting Community Nurses (Registered Nurses), Assistant Practitioners (Nursery Nurses), Managers and Administrators. We also work with partner agencies to deliver an integrated early years' service.

Main duties of the job

As part of the Health Visiting team, you can expect to be supported through;

  • A preceptorship model whilst you settle into your role.
  • Health Board Induction programme.
  • Safeguarding Supervision.
  • Enhanced Wellbeing support including monthly designated Wellbeing time and restorative supervision.
  • Career development support, including completion of MSc and role specific training as well as specialist role opportunities.

We currently have vacancies in the following areas / teams encompassing leadership support which is embedded into each team.

  • Newport North Team – covering Bettws Malpas & Caerleon
  • Newport East Team – covering Alway, Beechwood, Langstone, Llanwern, Liswerry, Maindee,Ringland, St Julians & Somerton
  • Newport South Team – covering Pill & Stow Hill
  • Newport West Team - covering Allt-yr-yn, Bassaleg, Dyffryn, Gaer, Maesglas, Marshfield & Rogerstone.

 

We are supported with digital enhancements and utilise the electronic birth book to collate data for the Health Board and Welsh Government. This information is used to support caseload and community profiling. We also have a dedicated communication and engagement team who provide up to date information to families via social media platforms etc, allowing us to share important key Public Health messages to our wider population.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
